This is generous on the nose, notes of raspberry coulis, red cherries, some nice spicy aromas coming forth with an honeyed note in the background.Very fine fruit concentration on the palate, wild strawberry, a touch of cranberry with fine minerality towards the finish. The fruit for this comes from three small parcels of vines, the oldest being En La Barre which was planted between 1953 and '56, and is supplemented by wine from the young vines of Clos de la Barre, Genevrières, Goutte d’Or and Charmes.
Single vineyard wine; with a judicious use of oak and perfectly integrated ripe, peachy fruit. 2008 produced 30% less in quantity, but the result of this is greater concentraion of aromatics, underscored by fine acidity.
