Fresh flavours of limes and pears. Light, characterful country wine made from an interesting local grape variety.
This château, which has been in family hands since 1892 is located near the village of Neac, in the centre of Lalande de Pomerol. Just to the north of the Pomerol appellation itself, it is an area of similar terrain and gravelly clay and limestone soils.
One of the many excellent Pomerols from Christian Moueix this year, the 2006 Certan de May is a tightly woven, focused and impressive wine. In such extreme youth for what is an ambitious wine it was difficult to taste, but layers of silky fruit, mocha and fine tannins shone through. Wonderful balance.
Appealing yet elegantly fruity, smooth tannins, lively finish. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.
The house of J.P. Moueix own some of Pomerol's finest properties (including the legendary Pétrus). Certan de May is one of their most reliable wines that was a regular favourite among Majestic's en primeur customers and which is sure to impress any connoisseur of fine Bordeaux.

This 15-hectare estate enjoys a location in the environs of Pomerol, just to the north. Producing around 80% Merlot, with full de-stemmingbefore fermentation, the blend is very much in the soft and plummy tradition of Bordeaux's Right Bank wines. Deep crimson in colour, with a gently smoky bouquet. Good fruit concentration on the palate, with the region's characteristic soft texture and openness. Drink with a t-bone steak or fillet of veal.
From a strong vintage in Pomerol, where timely picking ensured an excellent harvest. Offering excellent value, this soft-edged wine has plump plum and damson fruit on the palate, and a lightly violet and mineral scented nose. beginning to drink very well now, with the potential to develop further over the next 5 years.

Rich and silky, this is a little gem of a wine. Lots of fine aromas, truffles and violets. Food pairing: Try with pot au feu, as well as hard cheese or chocolate desserts. 100% Merlot.
Soft, supple and succulent, with very ripe plummy fruit, a wine to reach for if you're tucking into rare roast beef. Outwardly imposing, the château at the heart of this estimable family-run estate remains firmly shuttered. Madame Colette Darnajou, viticultrice at Perron, has more pressing demands than housekeeping or running a 'B and B'. She produces clarets of finesse and intensity from her (predominantly Merlot) vineyards on the clay-rich soils of Lalande-de-Pomerol.
