Meursault 'Clos de la Barre' 2001 Domaine des Comtes Lafon
Domaine de la Bongran is one of Adnams most favoured estates. Why? Because year after year the Thevenet family produce stunning wines - totally unique in style and incredibly generous in flavour. Each wine takes months, if not years, to fully ferment. The grapes are late-picked, and the winery philosophy is totally unhurried. The wine is ready when it wants to be - not when the winmakers dictate. Truley fantastic stuff.

Located at the bottom of the Mont Brouilly, the Charrion family has owned this property for more than a century. An exceptional Beaujolais of great weight and intensity, retaining the classic fresh raspberry and cherry fruit flavours synonymous with the region. Enjoy immediately with cold pork or sausages. It would be no problem to serve this wine slightly chilled.
With ripe fruit aromas, a pleasant richness and fine minerality, this is a classic Loire white. Bottled with a slight natural spritz to help retain freshness.
Long an Adnams favourite, this a simple, classic Muscadet from a family-run domaine has crisp, minerally fruit flavours and a crunchy, apple-skin edge. Serve on ice alongside a platter of 'fruits de mer'.

Jacky Marteau's 'Domaine de la Bergerie' occupies some of Touraine's most enviable sites: south-facing, pebble-and-flint slopes beside the River Cher. Quality is paramount: low yields are encouraged by growing grass between vine rows, pruning is radical and leaves are plucked in summer to let the sunshine through. Jacky's rare plot of Beaujolais grape Gamay produces this delightful red, full of rich, silky raspberry flavour. Great with
We tasted our favourite southern Burgundy from Jean Thévenet's modest domaine in Mâcon-Clessé at the onset of its fermentation in Autumn 2006, and it is probably still bubbling gently as I write, such is the unhurried manner of his winemaking. Of all the top Beaujolais appelations Moulin a Vent produces the most structured wines which, unlike almost all other Beaujolais, benefits from a few years maturation. A well kept Moulin a Vent takes on the characteristics of Pinot Noir and can fool the unwary taster. This is a classic example.
The fruit for this comes from three small parcels of vines, the oldest being En La Barre which was planted between 1953 and '56, and is supplemented by wine from the young vines of Clos de la Barre, Genevrières, Goutte d’Or and Charmes.

In the obscure village of Bouzeron he potters around his walled garden and quietly more info >>

Beatrice and Jean Claude Bouche, owners of this domaine, are impassioned winemakers. Together they manage their vineyards using organic farming methods, creating wines of great character. Just to the east of Orange the Domaine du Vieux Chene vineyards spread out on a slightly sloped and very rocky plateau. This location offers the wines the benefit of a beneficial microclimate thanks to an especially high yearly level of sunshine.
