A chunky, masculine style of Pinot Noir, reflecting the generosity of Burgundy's Pommard appellation. At its best with roasts and game.
A long-established Burgundy negociant who's reputation is now back on the rise. They produce a more masculine style with the advantage of a bit of bottle age.

Domaine Vacheron has some of the best vineyards in Sancerre, comprising equal measures of limestone and flint - the first lending wines 'tang', the latter minerality. In the dream Loire vintage of 2005 (a year of ripe yet perfectly-balanced wines), organically-oriented cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron kept yields one-fifth lower than typical local harvests, resulting in Sauvignon of real concentration. Incisively citrusy; hints of herbs.

Owning 140 hectares on vineyards on the steep hillsides of the Vosges mountains, Domaines Schlumberger was founded in 1810, and is one of the largest and most respected wineries of Alsace, making wines only from estate-grown fruit.
Jean-Claude du Roure, the current owner, took over the vineyard from his parents in 1985. Respecting the land and the environment, he runs his vineyard on the principles of well planned effort and sustainable cultivation of the vines, limiting the use of pesticides, allowing the growth of grass, and using bark to keep down the growth of weeds.
If you've landed a pike big enough for dinner, stroll home and drink it with this rich, buttery Chardonnay with its crystalline-pure citrus and apricot flavours. Henri Germain acquired winemaking skills at the Germain family estate, Château de Chorey-les-Beaune, before setting up on his own in 1973. His domaine is based in Meursault, where talented son Jean- François now holds sway. The chilly Germain cellar produces concentrated, minerally Meursaults that develop

Saint Veran is a minor Burgundian appelation situated in the south of the region. It is a haven for talent ed winemakers who cannot afford land in the more famous areas and can hence be very rewarding.
The Adnams Cellar Selection seeks to find wines of a quality above the norm, that you would be proud to have on your dinner table. This Chablis is made by Clothilde Davenne at her new domaine in Prehy. We have followed Clothilde for many years as winemaker to some of Chablis's great estates and now that she has her own domaine it was the perfect opportunity to have her make some of her splendidly mineral Chablis for Adnams.
We have two wines here from the sandled Guy Chaumont, who's been making lovely organic wines from his home town in Rosey for years. A St Veran from young, award-winning Denis Jeandeau and a St Romain pair (red and white) from Renaud Boyer. Domaine Parent supply us with a food-friendly Monthelie, delightful with roast duck.
Etienne Barret lives in Chateau Curson set amid the Domaine Pochon. All namers are interchangeable and may well be familiar to regular adnams drinkers. However he makes just one style of dry white Crozes and is one of the very best examples that we know of .
Domaine Begude is a 25-hectare family-owned estate set high in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Believing in a healthy, sustainable environment through organic farming has led to consistent wines of the highest quality. Tiny yields have concentrated the summer fruit flavours of strawberries and raspberries, resulting in a vibrant, juicy rosé that is extremely refreshing. Serve well chilled as an apéritif or with simple summer dishes.

The appellation of Maranges is a relatively new creation of which the Bachelet brothers own 6 hectares of the 1er cru vineyard 'La Fussiere', which probably makes them the biggest land owners in this appellation. Their sons have set out to rival them and rent vineyards from their father as well as others. They distinguish themselves by adding their mother's maiden name Monnot, from whom they rent vineyards in Puligny, to their label. They look like succeeding!
A family-owned property in Morey-St-Denis, Domaine Robert Gibourg practices lutte raisonée, with a hands-on approach to both cultivation and harvesting. This amazing value Pinot Noir is made with great care, with hand picking and sorting of the grapes, and full de-stemming before fermentation. The result is a Pinot of impressive purity.
We tasted our favourite southern Burgundy from Jean Thévenet's modest domaine in Mâcon-Clessé at the onset of its fermentation in Autumn 2006, and it is probably still bubbling gently as I write, such is the unhurried manner of his winemaking. Impeccably organic, an impressive alliance of lush, cassis-rich Cabernet and gamey, generous Syrah. Domaine Richeaume lies at the foot of Provence's Sainte-Victoire mountain. The winery itself was built on the vestiges of a Roman Villa by organic vigneron Henning Hoesch. All viticulture at the estate is biodynamic, to the extent that a flock of sheep has been installed to provide fertiliser. Henning produces powerful wines, deserving, as he says, "5 to 6 years of patience".
